Green Lantern Reboot Announced: Green Lantern Corps

Well WB/DC is not messing around and decided not only to give fans another Green Lantern film but a film with  possibly multiple Green Lanterns. There isn't much else to go on but there are rumors that Chris Pine is a candidate to play Hal Jordan and Tyrese has shown interest in playing John Stewart. I have no idea who they will cast but it's nice to hear that DC isn't playing it safe; to go all in on a franchise that previously flopped isn't something they are known to do but maybe this will give it the success it deserves. I need them to do this film right because I think we all want to see a Blackest Night cinematic event in the future.

5 Thoughts I got from Batman vs Superman Trailer

So I've been waiting for this trailer for quiet sometime and it seems like it was well worth the wait. There are ton of little things in this trailer that make my inner and outer fanboy squeal out in joy,  allow me to share a few of  them.

1.  This is post  A Death in the Family

Jason Todd's suit
Even though Batman is first appearing in BvS next year, within the universe he's been active for sometime and the screen grab of the trailer pretty much cements that fact. For a little backstory, "Death in the Family" is the name of the storyline where the Joker takes Jason Todd (the 2nd Robin) prisoner and tortures him; eventually killing him in an explosion. Now if this suit does indeed belong to Jason then that means that Batman and Joker already have an established history. I am surprised that they would go that route since Jason has never been used in film before but that does lead to a possible Red Hood appearance, which is totally awesome and should happen.

2. Wonder Woman actually looks kick ass

Its about damn time
Not gonna lie, I was apprehensive with how they would do Wonder Woman since they went the supermodel look and not the Serena Williamsesque look I wanted but I will say that I have no issues with how she looks. Diana is stunning in her civies and looks like she is gonna raise all kinds of hell in her iconic warrior costume. I hope she says "Hera give me strength" because that would just be super cheesy and I like that stuff.

3. Drawing from multiple storylines

I'm getting a Red Son vibe here
First we have "A death in the family" and now we have some elements of Red Son being worked in here. I could be totally wrong here but it seems as if Superman may wield a level of control over the police/military, similar to that in Red Son (but to a lesser degree obviously). The BvS version of Batman also seems to view Superman the same way that Red Son Batman does and even has a plan to take him out ( so it seems). Either way I think it'll be interesting to see just how all this comes together. Also, when the hell does Batman go out in the day time?

4. Kryptonite exists in the DCCU
I wish that hairstyle didn't though
Well it was only a matter of time before they introduce this into the universe but it looks like Lex will be the one to use it so now I'm really interested in seeing just how long Batman will last without this ace in the hole.

5. The Kent's are still really not a fan of humanity

Possibly the worst advice you could give your godlike alien son
I'm glad that Martha Kent is continuing the proud tradition of telling Clark that humanity is really worth anything, it's a staple of this new universe that  I want to see more of.

The real number 5. Bizzaro???
Shh he's sleeping
Ok so we know that Superman did a very not Supermany thing in the end of Man of Steel and snapped Zod's neck. Now, they could be using Zod's body as a way to make a serum to enhance soldiers or whatever but what if they tried to bring him back, things go wrong and bam we get Bizzaro. Yes I know Bizzaro is a Superman clone but given the situation this makes more sense....or as much sense as bringing a dead alien back to life can make.

Those are a few of the thoughts that I had watching this trailer. I still don't like Jessie Eisenberg as Lex Luthor but other than that it was a freaking awesome trailer.

Why The Deadpool Film is Kinda Important

I want you to think back on all the comic book films released within the last...say 5 years or so, how many of them had an R rating? Kingsman and that's about it right? Don't you think it's time for the comic book genre to grow past the "family friendly" audience and give us more adult material? Deadpool looks to give us just that has it has been confirmed to have an R rating, making it the first Fox comic book film to receive such a rating. It is common knowledge around here that I like Fox as much as Nick Fury loves being transparent but I have to give them credit for having the guts to put out an R rated comic book film, especially one based on a Marvel character since Marvel's Cinematic Universe is a PG-13 zone strictly ( not saying that Marvel is producing Deadpool or anything). Normally I'd think nothing about this other than a "I'll probably watch it", but if this film does well it could have huge ramifications in which rating future films will get. Deadpool is a character that does not shy away from violence and foul language and in order to capture him truly there is no other rating they could possibly have than R; now imagine having a Wolverine film where Logan can completely eviscerate his enemies is a glorious fit of berserker rage, or better yet an X-Force film where we have an elite mutant hit squad doing the wet-work to save their kind. Do you see what kind of doors this opens up? And it's not only for Fox either, DC and Marvel could also take a page from them and give their characters much needed justice like a Daredevil R Reboot, a Deathstroke film, and maybe...idk...A REBOOT TO THE BLADE SERIES THAT I'VE WANTED SINCE BLADE 3!
The test footage that started the buzz

Fox has been relying on the X-Men franchise to stay relevant in the comic book movie world and they really need to keep it fresh and I believe this is one way to go about it. Having Deadpool in their universe and having his film being rated R opens up different avenues to be more true to the more violent mutants (The Wolverine films would have been way better if Logan was allowed to slice people up on camera, just saying). Not only that, but if it does well and Marvel and DC copy them, we could be looking at a much needed breath of fresh air in the overly saturated PG-13 fest that is comic book films. Kingsman needs some company and I am totally for more films like that because did you see that church scene? Every comic book film needs a scene like that and guess which films would do it best? That's right...R rated comic films.

Bonus:

I cannot believe I am saying this, but I am excited for a Fox produced superhero film, excuse me while I go check for airborne pigs.

Spider-Man To Join The MCU

From Marvel:
"(Culver City, California, and Burbank, California February 09, 2015) – Sony Pictures Entertainment and Marvel Studios announced today that Sony is bringing Marvel into the amazing world of Spider-Man.
Under the deal, the new Spider-Man will first appear in a Marvel film from Marvel's Cinematic Universe (MCU). Sony Pictures will thereafter release the next installment of its $4 billion Spider-Man franchise, on July 28, 2017, in a film that will be co-produced by Kevin Feige and his expert team at Marvel and Amy Pascal, who oversaw the franchise launch for the studio 13 years ago. Together, they will collaborate on a new creative direction for the web slinger. Sony Pictures will continue to finance, distribute, own and have final creative control of the Spider-Man films.
Marvel and Sony Pictures are also exploring opportunities to integrate characters from the MCU into future Spider-Man films.

This is a huge get for Marvel, Sony and fans of Spider-Man as now we get to see a fully realized Spider-Man in action, one that is able to interact with the Marvel Universe on a level we haven't seen before. The possibilities this opens up are endless and it will help to usher in a new age of Marvel Cinematic Heroes. Can you imagine Spider-Man and Black Panther on the same team? Or Spidey and Captain Marvel doing a buddy film thing? Not to mention Spider-Man will be able to have his own solo films and pick and choose which Marvel characters he wants to involve.....God I want this to come out right now. No idea who will be playing the webslinger but I'm totally gonna do a fancast so look forward to that, or don't it's a free country. I am saddened that Captain Marvel and Black Panther will be pushed back to 2018 but Spider-Man is my all time favorite and seeing him finally being done right ( this means no more teenage soap opera whining bs) is something I, along with others, deserve to see as soon as possible.

If you want to see how Marvel could possibly work him into the MCU, I made a suggest not to long ago on how it could happen. Today is a good day for comic book fans, now we can focus our attention on the X-Men...we coming for you FOX!

That's that sh*t I don't like: Batman vs Superman

I'm sure by now you've all heard of the recent addition of Jason Momoa as Aquaman. Normally I would be super excited about characters finally making it to the big screen, but something about all the casting has been bothering me: what film are they making?
