Anime Talk: Dragon Ball Not So Super

My issue with Dragon Ball Super is that so far it seems more dated than DBZ, a 19 year old series. I didn’t think there would be so much filler especially since its not even based on a manga but holy shit this story moves slower than Z. Its been like 15 episodes and the only thing of importance that we’ve learned is that Super Saiyan God, Beerus and other dimensions exist (which the movie showed and I am pretty sure we all saw the movie before the series) and that there is another God of Destruction out there doing stuff. That’s it, the rest of it is just filler; you wanna see fighting and traveling to different planets and anything that moves the story? Too bad, here’s Goten and Trunks trying to get water for Videl, or how about Goku farming? Even when they do fights its fucking parody of its self, episode 13 is a perfect example of this, they throw like 4 punches and its a bunch of reaction shots ,exposition and Goku and Beerus yelling at each other. This isn’t me exaggerating either, that is the entire episode. You wanna hear last episode summary? Spoilers (or whatever):
From Wikipedia: “ With Earth no longer in danger, Goku and others return to their ordinary lives. Chi-Chi orders Goku to leave training behind and find a job so he can support the family. Meanwhile, Mr. Satan's self-promotion goes awry when a group of aliens land in the city. The aliens reveal that they are ambassadors who wish to thank and reward whoever defeated Beerus; thus protecting their planet from destruction. Before he is given the reward, however, Mr. Satan is asked to demonstrate his godlike power against the alien's mightiest champion in a sparring match. Knowing that he does not stand a chance, Mr. Satan quickly scampers away to safety and calls for help, but no one answers him. Suddenly, Goku arrives at the scene in need of Mr. Satan's help. Mr. Satan arranges to have Goku fight in his stead. Just before the fight, however, Goku spots Chichi and immediately runs away to avoid being scolded for disobeying her. Mr. Satan is left to confront the alien champion on his own. Suddenly, the aliens spot Mr. Satan's dog and run away in fear. With the aliens gone, the crowd praise Mr. Satan who they think saved them and Earth yet again.”
Now if this was back in 1996 I wouldn't mind but things have changed a lot in the 18 years since the series ended and seeing it continue like this is so extremely jarring when we have 13 episode series that have better pacing than this. Do we really need an entire episode dedicated to Hercule this early
This is pretty much episode 13 in a nutshell
in the series? Did the 2nd episode need to focus on a family trip with the Briefs and then just add Beerus at the end? Episodes like that should exist after things have been established not at the beginning; the only reason why I even suffered through them is because of nostalgia because if this were any other series premiering I guarantee no one would stick with 2 underwhelming introduction episodes WHERE NOTHING HAPPENS. I think that's my chief complaint here, nothing happens in Dragon Ball Super for long periods of time and then 1 thing happens for way too long; that fight with Beerus could have easily be 3 episodes long and instead is stretched out from episode 5 to 14..that's 6 more eps than need be. I'm at the point now where there are so many much more interesting animes out there that Dragon Ball Super can't just get away with shit like this just because its a o.g. series ( well in name at least). I think I'm gonna stop watching this for a while and see if it can get out of its time machine and join us in the year 2015; until that time comes I'm gonna keep watching OnePunchMan...have you seen it? Its freaking great..here is a sample

*Fun Fact- If you're excuse about the pacing for DBS is that its following a manga I will have to say " you are very wrong here" because not only is it not based on a manga but their is a manga being adapted FROM the anime....yeah...so there really isn't an excuse for this awful pacing.
